Abu Dhabi-based Karim Sarhane, MD, is a general and advanced laparoscopic surgeon at Burjeel Royal Hospital. He provides patient-centered care related to cancer surgery as well as common general surgical problems. Dr. Karim Sarhane performs oncoplastic breast surgery in addition to implant-based reconstruction following mastectomy. His expertise extends to thyroid/parathyroid surgery, complex hernia repair, colorectal surgery and surgery on the pregnant patients.

While a postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Sarhane developed and pursued original research concepts that led to significant findings and research awards. He was principal investigator for an American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand project and authored “Selectively permeable nanofiber construct for nerve repair and limb transplants.”

An active presence in the medical community, Dr. Sarhane received a travel scholarship from the American College of Surgeons to attend its 2020 Leadership Conference and Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC. A longstanding member of the American Board of Surgery, Karim Sarhane, MD, is certified in Da Vinci Xi robotic surgery and endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. He treats patients in the United Arab Emirates, and is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
